Data Engineer - REMOTE MEXICO

Role Overview

Join Scalepex’s DataOps team as a Data Engineer working on healthcare-related data pipelines. This is a hands-on role focused on building, transforming, integrating, monitoring, and troubleshooting data pipelines to ensure accuracy, scalability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Extract, cleanse, and load data.
• Build data pipelines and transformations using SQL and supporting technologies (including Kafka).
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues in data and data pipelines.
• Analyze and document new datasets; create transformation configurations and ad-hoc reports.
• Triage bugs and incidents.
• Participate in sprint refinement, planning, and kick-off to help estimate stories and define implementation details.
• Monitor execution and performance of data pipelines.
• Implement data quality checks and resolve discovered issues collaboratively.

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational data models.
• Expert SQL skills (e.g., pivots, window functions, and complex date calculations).
• Ability to analyze and parse flat file data structures.
• Proficiency with EDI X12 formats for healthcare claims processing.
• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with BI/analytics tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI, etc.
• Familiarity with API usage for healthcare data integration (parsing and conversion).
• Familiarity with EFT file movement concepts and tools, including encryption.
• Ability to explain data movement/transformation concepts across different tech stacks.
• Clear communication with internal teams and external data partners/vendors.
• Detail-oriented approach to validating data and code.
• 2+ years of data engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• ETL experience.
• Git experience.
• Relevant IT/Computer Science degree or certification.
