About the role
Role: Data Engineer (Remote)
You will help translate business needs into data solutions, build and maintain scalable data pipelines, and support analytics and predictive/prescriptive modeling across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Understand business processes and how they are modeled across enterprise systems.
- Partner with business users, technology teams, and executives to define data needs and deliver solutions.
- Implement data structures, workflows, and integrations between enterprise platforms.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines as data volume and complexity grow.
- Follow data integration/engineering best practices and evolve the organization’s data infrastructure.
- Manage and improve performance of databases, queries, and data tooling.
- Create and maintain data warehouses, databases/tables, SQL queries, and ingestion pipelines to power:
- Tableau reports and dashboards
- Predictive models and downstream analysis
- Write complex, efficient SQL to transform raw sources into reusable data models.
- Prepare data for predictive and prescriptive modeling (data patterns, reliability, efficiency, quality).
- Collaborate with analytics, data science, and engineering teams to automate analytics/visualization and populate data models.
- Coordinate across disciplines and departments; ensure HIPAA compliance for PHI/PHI-sensitive data.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or related roles.
- Strong SQL skills; experience with relational and/or distributed databases.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Big data processing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop.
- Programming proficiency in at least one (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with data lake/lakehouse architecture.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, and data governance.
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets and optimize performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare data experience, including EDI transactions: 835 (remittance advice) and 837 (claims).
- Familiarity with clinical/EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or similar Oracle cloud services.
- Knowledge of healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, HIPAA compliance).
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Prefect).
Compensation
- $110K–$130K (annual) salary range.
