About the role

Role: Data Engineer

Design, build, and maintain scalable data systems that support irrigation system analytics and business intelligence.

Responsibilities

Build scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured sources (IoT sensors, irrigation systems, field data, business systems)
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT workflows to ensure accurate, timely, reliable data availability
Integrate data from irrigation control systems, weather APIs, soil sensors, and enterprise platforms
Create and maintain data warehouses and data lakes on modern cloud platforms
Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across datasets
Collaborate with data analysts, agronomists, and engineering teams to support reporting and predictive analytics
Monitor and improve performance, data latency, and storage efficiency
Implement data security best practices and follow compliance standards
Support dashboards and analytics tools for irrigation performance and resource optimization

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or related field
2–5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
Strong SQL and relational database experience
Proficiency in Python or Java for data processing and automation
ETL/ELT tooling experience (e.g., Airflow, dbt, Spark)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and data modeling
Experience with APIs and real-time data ingestion
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

IoT/sensor-based data systems experience
Background in agriculture tech, irrigation systems, or environmental data
Streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
GIS/geospatial data knowledge
Dashboard experience (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
Self-starter who can manage multiple priorities
Interest in sustainability, agriculture, and water resource management
