Data Engineer II

Role Overview

Data Engineer II on Samsara’s Revenue Operations AI & Data Team. You will own the data platforms that power Samsara’s GTM AI engine, enabling grounded, reliable data for AI applications and copilots.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using Databricks and Spark for analytics and AI use cases.
• Develop and evolve logical and physical data models to support reporting, experimentation, and advanced workflows (e.g., scoring models, signal generation).
• Implement data quality controls including monitoring, alerts, and testing for timeliness and data lineage.
• Support workflow orchestration using Databricks Jobs, dbt, or equivalent scheduling tools.
• Contribute to pipelines and tooling for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector integrations, and embedding workflows.
• Design and optimize bulk GenAI data pipelines in Databricks.

Requirements

• Experience building and operating large-scale data pipelines in Databricks and Spark (ETL/ELT).
• Ability to design data models for analytics, experimentation, and AI/ML-adjacent workflows.
• Strong focus on data reliability via monitoring, alerting, testing, and lineage.
• Experience orchestrating data workflows using Databricks Jobs and/or dbt-style tooling.
• Familiarity with AI data workflows such as RAG, vector/embedding pipelines.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience supporting generative AI job workflows in Databricks.
• Background partnering with data scientists, AI engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver production-ready infrastructure.
