About the role

Role Overview

mPulse is hiring a Data Engineer II for the Data Engineering team. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data platform capabilities that support analytics, product, and AI/ML use cases in a high-volume healthcare data environment.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and delivery of high-volume healthcare data.
Write and optimize complex SQL for transformation, validation, and performance tuning.
Develop and manage workflows with Apache Airflow (DAG creation, monitoring, troubleshooting).
Enhance and scale the data platform for analytics, product features, and AI/ML.
Build data quality frameworks, including automated data profiling, validation, and testing.
Monitor and optimize production pipeline performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Investigate data issues, identify root causes, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Operations, Product, Analytics, and Data Science to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Partner with clinical/analytics teams to operationalize reporting and data-driven insights.
Maintain documentation for pipelines, data models, and engineering processes.

Requirements

Strong SQL proficiency (complex querying, transformation, and performance optimization).
Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and integration.
Experience designing/building ETL/ELT data pipelines.
Hands-on experience with data warehousing platforms such as Snowflake, PostgreSQL, Amazon Redshift, or Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with Apache Airflow (DAG development, debugging, maintenance).
Experience with dbt for modular transformations, testing, and management.
Experience with AWS (e.g., S3, RDS, Lambda, Glue, DMS).
Familiarity with version control and collaboration workflows (GitHub/Bitbucket).
CI/CD familiarity (e.g., Jenkins or GitHub Actions).
Experience supporting data quality initiatives (profiling, validation, monitoring).
Understanding of data modeling / data warehousing concepts (including dimensional modeling).

Nice to Have

Exposure to Tableau or Looker.
Experience with healthcare data (claims or clinical datasets).
Familiarity with data science or machine learning workflows.
