About the role
Role Overview
The Data Engineer supports data integration, data management, and data infrastructure for healthcare transformation, public health, and government modernization initiatives. The role helps build and optimize data pipelines and reporting environments so stakeholders can rely on accurate, accessible, secure, and well-structured data for analytics and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Data Integration & Pipeline Support
- Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and integration workflows for reporting and analytics.
- Ingest, transform, validate, and organize healthcare, operational, and program data from multiple sources.
- Build and maintain structured datasets, databases, and reporting environments for analytics and performance monitoring.
- Troubleshoot data quality, integration, and processing issues to ensure reliable reporting outputs.
- Assist with automating recurring data processing and reporting workflows.
Data Management & Quality Assurance
- Implement data validation, quality assurance, and data governance processes.
- Monitor data consistency, completeness, and integrity across reporting/analytics environments.
- Maintain technical documentation for data sources, integration processes, reporting logic, and workflows.
- Support secure data access, version control, and reporting structures aligned with program requirements.
- Ensure secure handling of healthcare and operational data in line with applicable requirements and best practices.
Reporting & Analytics Support
- Partner with analytics and evaluation teams to prepare datasets for dashboards and performance measurement.
- Support the development and maintenance of reporting environments and operational data structures.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data accessibility, and workflow automation.
- Troubleshoot reporting and data issues impacting program operations.
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate across technical, operational, analytical, and program teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, responsiveness, and strong technical problem-solving.
- Support a culture of operational excellence, data quality, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, database management, data integration, or reporting infrastructure.
- Experience supporting healthcare and/or public sector/government-funded (e.g., Medicaid) program data is preferred.
Nice-to-Haves / Preferences
- Prior experience in healthcare data operations within healthcare, public sector, or government-funded environments.
- Experience related to Rural Health Transformation Programs (RHTP) and state-led healthcare transformation initiatives (access, quality, performance, care coordination, population health outcomes).
