Data Engineer

Role Overview

Figma is hiring an experienced Data Engineer to help scale and own data pipelines in partnership with its Data Science and Data Infrastructure teams. You’ll build reliable data foundations and enable self-serve reporting and metrics to support Figma’s next phase of growth.

Responsibilities

• Own, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines connecting multiple cloud data sources.
• Develop expertise in Figma’s core data models and optimize pipelines for scale.
• Partner with Data Science and Data Infrastructure to create foundational, trusted datasets for self-service.
• Work with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Finance) to:
  • derive requirements
  • architect shared datasets
  • document and explain complex problems to different audiences.
• Establish best practices for building analytics/modeling-ready specialized datasets.
• Use sound judgment on when to build fast internal solutions vs. when to push back or involve external services.

Requirements

• 4+ years in a relevant field.
• Fluency in SQL and Python.
• Familiarity with:
  • Snowflake
  • dbt
  • Dagster
  • ETL and reverse ETL tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving.

Nice to Have

• Data modeling methodologies for robust data architecture.
• Experience with business systems such as Salesforce, Customer.io, Stripe, NetSuite.

Location / Work Mode

• Full-time role available from a US hub or remotely in the United States.
