Data Engineer, Engineering & Operations

Role Overview

Join NBCUniversal’s Engineering & Operations team as a Data Engineer. Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Operations, you will design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines, clean room environments, identity workflows, and privacy-safe integrations to support NBCUniversal’s data collaboration ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Clean Room & Partner Onboarding

  • Support partner onboarding into clean rooms on platforms such as Snowflake, LiveRamp, Databricks, or similar technologies.
  • Apply secure, scalable, privacy-preserving clean room architecture patterns that are repeatable across partners.
  • Configure and manage clean room environments (data access, setup, platform configuration, and release validation).
  • Serve as technical owner for partner onboarding efforts; coordinate with Product, Engineering, Operations, Privacy, and partner-facing teams.
  • Implement privacy-preserving controls such as aggregation thresholds, anonymization techniques, approved query patterns, and output validation.

• Infrastructure Setup & Library Deployment

  • Deploy and manage Python-based libraries, templates, and reusable components within clean rooms and the data platform ecosystem.
  • Support environment setup, configuration management, package deployment, and version-controlled release processes.
  • Partner with software engineering teams to operationalize reusable libraries for audience activation, measurement, reporting, and partner-facing workflows.

• Security, RBAC & Privacy Controls

  • Design, implement, and enforce granular RBAC (least privilege) across data platform environments.
  • Configure service accounts, roles, grants, schemas, shares, and data access patterns.
  • Validate partner-facing outputs against privacy, security, and business requirements.

• Data Pipelines & Data Product Ownership

  • Design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines and help own/operate related data products for collaboration workflows.

Requirements

• Strong SQL and Python skills
• Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Databricks
• Ability to build secure, reliable, repeatable data workflows for partner onboarding, audience activation, measurement, and reporting

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with clean room environments and privacy-preserving data collaboration patterns
• Familiarity with identity workflows and privacy controls (aggregation/anonymization/approved query patterns)
