Data Engineer

Role Overview

Join Deel as a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines that move data from source systems into a data warehouse. You’ll support analytics and reporting by modeling warehouse structures, writing performant SQL, and ensuring data quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain ETL data pipelines to integrate data from multiple source systems into the data warehouse.
• Develop and optimize data warehouse schemas and tables for analytics and reporting use cases.
• Write and refine complex SQL queries to support downstream data needs.
• Implement data quality measures (e.g., validation checks and cleansing routines) to ensure integrity and reliability.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other engineers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Document pipeline designs, data flows, and data definitions for transparency and future reference.

Requirements

• Proficiency in at least one programming language for data processing and pipeline automation (e.g., Python).
• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or a similar backend data development role.
• Strong SQL skills, including experience with data modeling and data warehouse solutions.
• Experience implementing data quality checks and working with large-scale datasets.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics).
• Strong problem-solving, and communication/teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-Haves

• Familiarity with ETL tools and workflow orchestration frameworks, such as Apache Airflow (or similar).
