About the role

Role overview

Azumo is seeking a Big Data Engineer / Data Engineer to develop and enhance data and analytics infrastructure. The position is fully remote within Latin America, focusing on scalable, reliable, and governed data systems for gaming live operations, player insights, and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks and AWS
  • Improve ingestion pipeline quality, reliability, scalability, and governance
  • Develop and optimize core data models and foundational data tables
  • Build analytics-ready datasets for:
    • player insights
    • publishing analytics
    • esports analytics
    • operational reporting
  • Implement data governance including data quality, lineage, and observability
  • Collaborate with product, analytics, engineering, and business stakeholders to support data-driven decisions
  • Optimize large-scale data processing for performance and cost efficiency
  • Support centralized player data models and operational metrics across multiple game teams
  • Build and maintain orchestration workflows and scheduling systems
  • Participate in architecture discussions for scalability, governance, and data platform modernization

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks
  • Strong SQL and Python
  • Experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Experience with AWS data ecosystem and cloud-native architectures
  • Experience with dbt and Apache Airflow (or similar orchestration tools)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and analytics engineering
  • Experience working with large-scale structured and semi-structured datasets
  • Proven experience implementing data governance and data quality practices
  • Ability to optimize pipeline performance and scalability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; can work independently in distributed teams

Nice to have

  • Gaming industry experience
  • LiveOps or telemetry pipeline experience
  • Experience with player behavior, engagement, monetization, or publishing analytics
  • Exposure to real-time/streaming data systems
  • Viewer analytics or esports data ecosystem experience
  • KPI reporting and operational dashboards
  • Cost optimization and cloud infrastructure analytics
  • Experience in fast-paced product engineering organizations

Qualifications / Experience

  • BS or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years in data-related and data management responsibilities

Language

  • Professional English proficiency (B2/C1)
