Data Engineer, Data & Analytics

Role Overview

Cast & Crew is seeking a Data Engineer to build and evolve the data foundation for the Backstage business. You will join the Data & Analytics team to maintain and expand the analytics data stack, enabling customer-facing products, intelligent customer interactions, and actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines to integrate and transform data from first- and third-party sources into analytics-ready models.
• Work with structured relational data and unstructured event data (e.g., clickstream/telemetry) to create user-level datasets and customer journeys.
• Partner with analytics, finance, marketing, and product teams to design data models that reflect business logic across systems.
• Convert event-level telemetry into customer journeys aggregated across time windows for product and marketing insights.
• Develop and manage data integration pipelines, including reverse ETL workflows using Hightouch.
• Define audience segments, customer profiles, and attribution logic using SQL and dbt in a modern cloud data warehouse (e.g., Redshift).
• Implement CI/CD, version control, and automated data quality tests to ensure reliable reporting.
• Collaborate with marketing and BI to design dashboards in Looker and Amplitude for campaign performance, segmentation, and ROI.
• Document data models and transformation logic for transparency and scalability.
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term maintainability to support evolving business needs.

Requirements

• Top-tier SQL skills, including advanced queries, layered business logic, and translating ambiguous requirements into structured, reusable datasets.
• Strong ability to build durable, scalable data solutions with an emphasis on data quality, consistency, and scalability.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience with reverse ETL using Hightouch.
• Experience with dbt and cloud warehouses such as Amazon Redshift.
• Experience building dashboards/analytics using Looker and Amplitude.
