About the role
Role Overview
Data Engineer (GCP) for a high-impact data transformation programme.
- Type: 12-month contract (strong likelihood of extension)
- Work mode: Fully remote (US timezone)
Responsibilities
- Build and optimize a modern data platform on GCP.
- Create and maintain scalable data pipelines for both batch and real-time processing.
- Work with large datasets in BigQuery, optimizing for performance and cost.
- Develop processing workflows using Dataflow (Apache Beam).
- Integrate and move data using Pub/Sub and Cloud Storage.
- Support data modeling and transformation workflows.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
- Apply best practices for data quality, testing, and deployment.
Requirements
- Proven Data Engineer experience on GCP.
- Strong background building pipelines at scale.
- Experience with both batch and real-time processing.
- Solid SQL skills and experience with data warehousing (e.g., BigQuery).
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience migrating data platforms to GCP.
- BigQuery cost optimization experience.
- Exposure to CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
