About the role
Role Overview
Senior GCP Data Engineer to join a high-impact data transformation program on a 12-month contract (strong likelihood of extension). You’ll build and optimize a modern data platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), collaborating with architects and stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for both batch and real-time processing
- Work with large datasets in BigQuery, optimizing performance and cost
- Develop processing solutions using Dataflow (Apache Beam)
- Integrate data using Pub/Sub and Cloud Storage
- Support data modeling and transformation workflows
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders
- Apply best practices for data quality, testing, and deployment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer on GCP
- Experience building data pipelines at scale
- Experience with batch and real-time processing
- Strong SQL skills and data warehousing experience (BigQuery)
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Nice to Have
- Experience migrating data platforms to GCP
- BigQuery cost optimization experience
- Exposure to CI/CD or Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
