Data Engineer

Role Overview

BrothersTech is hiring a Data Engineer for a remote/hybrid (USA) long-term contract / full-time position. You will design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines and data integration solutions in collaboration with analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines
• Build and optimize ingestion and transformation processes
• Create and support data models and enterprise data warehouse solutions
• Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
• Optimize database performance and improve query efficiency
• Implement data validation, quality checks, and monitoring
• Support batch and real-time data processing
• Troubleshoot production issues and help ensure high availability
• Create and maintain technical documentation and pipeline standards

Required Skills

• 3–6 years of Data Engineering experience
• Strong SQL skills with performance tuning/query optimization
• Python for data processing and automation
• Experience designing/developing ETL/ELT pipelines
• Hands-on Apache Spark and PySpark
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Cloud data warehouses: Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, BigQuery, or Azure Synapse
• Orchestration: Apache Airflow or Azure Data Factory
• Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
• Data modeling and data warehousing concepts
• Git and version control
• Linux familiarity
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments

Preferred Skills

• Databricks
• Kafka or other streaming technologies
• Delta Lake / Lakehouse architecture
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
• dbt (Data Build Tool)
• Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security
• Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
