About the role

Role Overview

Direct Travel is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to design, build, and deliver a global analytics platform. You will craft analytics products that enable insights and reporting for both internal stakeholders and global clients, including embedded analytics and self-service visualization capabilities.

Responsibilities

Data Management: Collect, process, and prepare data across raw and under-modeled data marts.
Reporting & Visualization: Build and optimize visualizations, reports, and modeling for core data products.
Collaboration: Partner with IT and business units to understand data requirements and deliver actionable solutions.
Process Improvement: Analyze trends/patterns in complex IT data to drive improvements and inform policy.
Analytics & Insights: Produce clear, concise analytical representations of core travel data for customer insights.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Skills:
- Advanced experience with SQL-based RDBMS and document stores.
- Programming experience in Python, R, or Scala.
- Web application development experience, including reactive front-end frameworks such as Vue.js or React.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and SCM with Git.
Cloud & Analytics Platforms:
- Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of the analytics/data lifecycle (pipelines → warehouse architecture → reporting).
- Senior experience with more than one analytics platform such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience building semantic models.
- Exposure to warehouses/data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Azure Data Lake.
- Experience implementing governance/compliance for analytics data products.
- Diagnostic skills for query and system tuning/performance.
- Experience building bespoke analytics/BI data products with embedded visuals and core functionality.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven experience as a Data Analytics Engineer.
Snowflake experience plus Looker/LookML semantic modeling experience.
