Data Analyst, BI

Role Overview

The Data Analyst, BI supports business intelligence and analytics initiatives by translating complex business needs into clear, actionable, development-ready requirements. You will partner with BI Developers, BI Architects, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders throughout the reporting/analytics lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Gather, clarify, and document reporting and analytics requirements with business stakeholders
• Translate business needs into technical specifications with BI and data teams
• Understand and analyze data sources, data flows, semantic layers, and BI tools
• Assess ETL/ELT processes, transformations, and dependencies to support solution design
• Document source-to-target mappings, business rules, metric definitions, filter logic, and report assumptions
• Create user stories, tickets, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation for technical teams
• Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing, and release activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years of experience in a Data Analyst/BI Analyst/Business Analyst role supporting analytics initiatives
• Strong knowledge of BI delivery processes, reporting requirements, data models, and analytics solution design
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Tableau, or Looker
• Proficiency with data warehouses/relational databases/cloud platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL Server, Azure)
• Ability to read/write SQL for investigation, validation, and troubleshooting
• Understanding of ETL/ELT, data pipelines, source-to-target mappings, and transformation logic
• Experience producing user stories, acceptance criteria, data mappings, and technical documentation
• Strong communication skills to bridge technical and non-technical audiences

Nice-to-Haves

• Agile experience using Jira or Azure DevOps
• Domain experience in healthcare, pharmacy, patient services, or other regulated reporting environments
