Data Analyst Assistant

Role overview

Data Analyst Assistant (full-time, permanent) for a fully remote engagement supporting a large-scale project with an established Italian infrastructure group. You’ll work with the firm’s principals to interrogate financial assumptions, find discrepancies in complex portfolios, and help surface potential value leakage using evidence-based analysis.

Responsibilities

• Clean and organize large datasets from multiple sources to build clear financial views
• Test the logic behind pricing assumptions and check whether they hold under real-world friction
• Assist in building financial models tracking capital allocation across infrastructure assets
• Identify outliers and anomalies in expenditure reports that don’t align with stated narratives
• Update portfolio economics trackers with new acquisition data
• Collaborate with the team via virtual channels to clarify findings and refine analysis
• Prepare clear summaries of data trends highlighting potential financial risks
• Verify inputs used in growth forecasts for specific business units
• Support the interrogation of acquisition assumptions for new investment opportunities

Requirements

• Degree or background in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field with a strong data component
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and large tables
• A skeptical mindset focused on finding inconsistencies in spreadsheets and reports
• Comfort working fully remote, with communication largely written and specific
• Ability to organize messy data into structured formats without losing context
• Interest in how large businesses spend money and allocate internal capital
• Reliability and willingness to learn to scrutinize financial statements deeply
• Strong attention to detail, especially when reviewing suspicious or out-of-place line items
