Cyber Engineer

Role overview

Cyber Engineer to strengthen security for a mission-driven organization protecting healthcare data and network infrastructure. You will design, implement, and maintain advanced network defense solutions across cloud and security platforms, with a focus on automation and threat prevention in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network security solutions across Azure and Palo Alto Networks (firewalls, cloud security controls, network segmentation).
• Build automation using scripts, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and SOAR playbooks to reduce manual work and improve security operations.
• Monitor network security telemetry, optimize firewall policies, identify gaps, and improve network defense effectiveness.
• Manage Azure networking and security services: Virtual Networks, Network Security Groups, Azure Firewall, and related components.
• Configure/support remote access security solutions such as GlobalProtect and Prisma Access.
• Partner with Cyber Defense Operations to investigate, contain, and remediate network-related incidents.
• Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and SOPs for network defense.
• Support compliance initiatives including HIPAA and SOC 2 (control testing and evidence collection).
• Identify opportunities to leverage automation/AI to scale security processes.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for incident support as needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years in network security engineering, network defense, or related cybersecurity.
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks NGFWs and management tools: Panorama, Strata Cloud Manager, GlobalProtect, Prisma Access.
• Production experience with Azure networking/security: VNETs, NSGs, Azure Firewall.
• Advanced networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, VPNs, firewall policies, and segmentation.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools to build automation workflows, scripts, and playbooks.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
