About the role
Role Overview
Customer Success Manager (remote)
Own a portfolio of high-impact accounts in a builder-operator role focused on revenue retention, expansion, and customer advocacy. You’ll design and run world-class customer success motions while helping shape the systems underneath those motions.
Responsibilities
- Own account health, success, and growth: onboarding, adoption, retention, expansion, and advocacy
- Analyze account health and identify risk; create data-informed success plans aligned to customer ROI
- Build multithreaded relationships with technical and business stakeholders (including execs)
- Lead key customer engagements: onboarding calls, QBRs, roadmap discussions, and escalation resolution
- Partner with Sales, Product, Support, and Engineering to advocate for customer needs and influence roadmap
- Generate and qualify expansion leads (CSQLs) using discovery, usage insights, and strategic conversations
- Improve CS systems as you scale: playbooks, tooling, and automation
- Use AI to optimize workflows, surface risk, generate content, and improve customer touchpoints
- Turn customers into active champions via case studies, testimonials, reference calls, and similar programs
Requirements
- 2+ years as a Customer Success Manager in a scaling B2B SaaS environment (ideally $50M–$100M ARR)
- Strong familiarity with CS motions: success planning, adoption frameworks, risk mitigation, QBRs, value mapping, CSQL generation
- Hands-on technical experience with databases (e.g., Postgres/SQL) and cloud/infra (e.g., AWS or Azure), or experience in developer relations/data engineering
- Ability to translate between business goals and technical complexity (comfort partnering from VP Engineering to DevOps/IC levels)
- Experience iterating on CS playbooks, customer journeys, and internal tooling
- Proactive, decisive, and comfortable in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Excellent written/verbal/async communication and strong trust-building skills
- Working view of how AI is reshaping CS; hands-on experimentation with tools such as GPT, Claude, Zapier AI
Preferred / Not a Great Fit
- Preferred: active experimentation with AI tools and comfort with technical products and databases/infrastructure
- Not a great fit if you are uncomfortable leading both technical and executive customer conversations, avoid ambiguity, or prefer only following playbooks without building/iterating on them
