About the role
Role overview
Join Amplitude as a Customer Data Scientist focused on experimentation and applied statistics. You’ll act as the primary experimentation expert during customer evaluations, helping teams design, run, and scale trustworthy experimentation programs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary experimentation expert across customer discovery through proof of concept.
- Partner with customers and internal teams to advise on:
- Experiment design and statistical methodology
- Measurement frameworks and experimentation architecture
- Educate customers on experimentation best practices, including:
- Metric development
- Variance reduction
- Results interpretation
- Build repeatable frameworks and enablement materials for experimentation adoption.
- Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and technical leaders; translate technical findings into practical product decisions.
Requirements
- Experience building/scaling/supporting experimentation programs in a product-led technology company.
- Hands-on experimentation expertise, including designing, running, and analyzing A/B tests.
- Strong background in applied statistics, experimental design, and causal inference.
- SQL and Python proficiency; experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig (or similar: Eppo, Optimizely, LaunchDarkly).
- Direct customer/stakeholder experience communicating advanced concepts to technical and business audiences.
- 5+ years in Data Science, Experimentation, Analytics, Applied Statistics, or related.
- Willingness to travel ~10–25%.
Nice-to-haves (from the posting)
- Experience using Python or R for statistical analysis, experimentation, and data modeling.
- Advanced experimentation methods: variance reduction, holdouts, sequential testing, and related techniques.
