About the role
Role overview
Amplitude is hiring a Customer Data Scientist (full remote) to help leading product and engineering organizations adopt and scale modern experimentation programs. You’ll serve as the primary experimentation expert—guiding customers from discovery through proof of concept—and work closely with data scientists, engineers, and technical leaders.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary experimentation expert during customer evaluations and technical discussions (discovery → proof of concept).
- Advise on experiment design and statistical methodology, including measurement frameworks and experimentation architecture.
- Help customers build scalable and trustworthy experimentation programs by teaching best practices.
- Develop frameworks and enablement materials to strengthen experimentation expertise across customers and internal teams.
- Educate teams on:
- Experimentation best practices
- Metric development
- Variance reduction
- Results interpretation
Requirements
- Comfortable engaging with highly technical audiences and communicating complex statistics to data scientists, engineers, executives, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to translate technical analysis into practical business outcomes.
- Experience with experimentation platforms such as Statsig, Eppo, Optimizely, LaunchDarkly, or similar.
- Experience influencing product strategy, technical roadmaps, or best practices based on customer needs and feedback.
- Demonstrated experience building/scaling/suppporting experimentation programs in a product-led technology environment.
- 5+ years in Data Science, Experimentation, Analytics, Applied Statistics, or a related field, with strong foundations in experimental design and causal inference.
- Hands-on A/B testing experience, including advanced methodologies such as:
- Variance reduction
- Holdouts
- Sequential testing
- Strong SQL and Python skills; experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Experience using Python or R for statistical analysis, experimentation, and data modeling.
- Experience working directly with customers and stakeholders to solve complex technical challenges.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting experimentation across both the technical and organizational sides of adoption (e.g., enabling teams to run programs reliably).
