About the role
Role Overview
The Creative Director partners with Philanthropy Communications and Integrated Marketing leadership to shape how Dana-Farber’s philanthropic mission is communicated through compelling storytelling, brand strategy, and integrated creative campaigns. You’ll ensure philanthropic storytelling connects donors to the transformative impact of their generosity.

- Reports to Assistant Vice President (AVP), Philanthropy Brand Communications
Location / Remote Policy
- Fully remote with occasional time on-campus in Brookline, MA
- Remote work permitted only from New England states: ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI
Responsibilities
- Serve as creative lead for the Division of Philanthropy, shaping mission/impact communication through brand storytelling and integrated campaigns.
- Partner with senior marketing leadership to align creative strategy with fundraising priorities and institutional goals.
- Develop and lead creative strategies for major fundraising initiatives, including donor communications and integrated marketing.
- Translate institutional priorities, fundraising objectives, and audience insights into storytelling frameworks and creative approaches.
- Oversee end-to-end creative development across channels: print, digital, video, social, photography, and experiential donor engagement.
- Ensure integrated creative approaches create a cohesive narrative across touchpoints.
- Apply audience research, performance data, and campaign learnings to improve storytelling effectiveness and engagement.
- Steward and evolve philanthropic brand standards for Dana-Farber and The Jimmy Fund, balancing consistency with thoughtful innovation.
- Review and guide creative work to maintain high standards of design quality, storytelling, and brand alignment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with integrated marketing, communications, fundraising, writers/strategists, and digital teams.
- Act as a creative advisor by reviewing results, applying learnings, and raising future work quality.
- Lead and mentor creative teams (designers/art directors) with clear direction, feedback, and development.
- Improve processes/workflows, ensure on-time/on-budget delivery, and manage freelance/vendor relationships.
- Contribute to planning and strategic discussions shaping philanthropy marketing.
Required Qualifications (Partial, as provided)
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and collaborate across leadership and teams.
- Demonstrated people leadership: mentoring/growing creative teams, setting direction and standards, managing budgets/timelines/vendors, and improving workflows.
- Industry/design knowledge: expertise in design thinking and typography (text truncated in posting).
