Creative Director, Brand

Role Overview

Upstart is hiring a Creative Director, Brand to lead creative strategy and execution for the company’s most visible owned brand channels. You’ll set the creative bar, lead and develop a multi-disciplinary creative team, and drive brand campaign creative from concept through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead creative strategy and execution across owned brand channels, including:
  • Organic social media
  • Website
  • Brand design systems
• Grow, inspire, and develop a multi-disciplinary creative team by:
  • Setting high creative standards
  • Giving direct, actionable feedback
  • Building a culture where talented teams do their best work
• Drive brand campaign creative from concept to delivery, including:
  • Leading internal development
  • Directing agency partners across TV, OOH, digital, and emerging media
• Evolve how Upstart uses AI tools to accelerate creative output while maintaining craft
• Partner with Marketing, Product, and senior leadership to align creative strategy with business goals

Minimum Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in brand creative, design, or creative direction
• 4+ years leading and managing multi-disciplinary creative teams
• Experience overseeing end-to-end brand campaign development across TV, OOH, and digital, with both internal teams and external agencies
• Portfolio demonstrating excellence in brand identity, visual design systems, and metrics-driven brand work

Nice-to-Haves

• Comfortable as a player/coach: leading the team while also doing hands-on work to get initiatives launched
• Ability to act as a trusted creative thought partner across the organization
