Controls Design Engineer (Electrical)

Role Overview

Controls Design Engineer (Electrical) supporting mission-critical projects, including large-scale data centers. This is a long-term independent contractor engagement with a US-based company, with ongoing work across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce control system design drawings and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Support design of building automation and control systems for HVAC and related systems.
• Assist with layouts, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel designs for control systems.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and other disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
• Contribute to low-voltage systems design efforts as needed (e.g., controls, fire alarm, security/communications).
• Maintain project documentation to ensure accuracy and alignment with project standards.
• Support design reviews by incorporating feedback and updating deliverables.
• Assist with submittals, as-built drawings, and commissioning documentation.
• Follow internal QA/QC processes and applicable industry standards and codes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–6+ years of experience in controls design, building systems, or low-voltage systems.
• Strong Revit skills (preferred) and AutoCAD required.
• Basic understanding of BAS/BMS, DDC controls, and integration with HVAC systems.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and coordination skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and support multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow technical direction.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to fire alarm and/or other low-voltage systems (security, communications).

• Long-term independent contractor (self-employed) engagement.
• Location: Anywhere in the world; headquarters in Tirana, Albania; remote work indicated.
