About the role
Role overview
As a Consultant Infrastructure Developer (DevOps), you help clients achieve technical excellence by assessing challenges from both technical and operational perspectives. You will take shared responsibility for designing, implementing, and running infrastructure that delivers software services, and support clients in adopting a DevOps mindset, moving toward more customer-focused and agile ways of working.
Responsibilities
- Launch projects through hands-on implementation and evaluate/drive improvements to existing infrastructure.
- Gather client needs and create a technical roadmap and impactful solutions aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with business development, marketing, and capabilities teams to shape and build Thoughtworks’ cloud and infrastructure practice.
- Ensure and build controls and processes for continuous delivery, including automation across the delivery lifecycle.
- Monitor projects to ensure technical expectations for deliverables are consistently met.
- Act as a thought leader on DevOps, cloud, and infrastructure engineering at client sites and within Thoughtworks.
- Build trusting partnerships with clients’ CIO/CTO and relevant teams.
- Propose and adjust innovative solutions to constraints and business policies.
Requirements (Technical)
- Ability to design and architect enterprise and/or web-scale hosting platforms.
- Strong administration skills for application servers, web servers, and databases.
- Deep understanding of cloud and virtualization, infrastructure automation, and application hosting.
- Knowledge of DevOps, Agile, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for leading infrastructure and operations.
- Experience with server virtualization, IaaS/PaaS, infrastructure provisioning, and configuration management.
- Scripting experience using at least one scripting language.
- Comfortable building Linux and/or Windows server systems.
- Experience with continuous integration in different tech stacks.
- Familiarity with observability patterns/tools, including:
- Distributed Tracing (e.g., OpenTracing)
- Log aggregation
- Audit logging
- Exception tracking
- Health check APIs, application metrics
- Self-healing / multi-cloud concepts
Requirements (Professional)
- Enjoy cross-functional collaboration and communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences.
- Create robust, scalable, flexible solutions that transform businesses and industries.
- Ability to partner with infrastructure, support, network, security, sysadmin, and IT management teams; provide advisory input to senior IT stakeholders.

- Experience with unit testing and automated testing tools.
