About the role
Role overview
The Commercial Product Manager owns the commercial lifecycle of a SaaS product—from incubating new ideas through customer adoption and ongoing support-cost management. You act as the primary liaison between the revenue/business side and the product team, translating market needs into clear product requirements and driving implementation with engineering.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert and primary liaison between revenue stakeholders and the product team
- Own and maintain the prioritized product backlog to support sprint planning
- Evaluate and prioritize new feature requests based on market demand, ROI, and client impact
- Manage the product scorecard and track KPIs aligned to business objectives
- Provide visibility into results and planning via accurate and automated reporting
- Guide clients on roadmap priorities and act as a product liaison across teams
- Partner with Sales to ensure proper education on product value statements
- Collaborate with development and engineering leads to define requirements and detailed functionality
- Review monthly prospect win/loss reports with product marketing
- Manage multiple large product initiatives in parallel to ensure successful delivery
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of relevant experience (Bachelor’s in CS/MIS/Business or equivalent)
- Background in financial, payments, or treasury product roles with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage a product backlog in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of commercial ownership (cost and revenue drivers)
- Demonstrated understanding of Agile methodology
- Experience with SaaS and online payments
- Ability to plan future strategy while maintaining current delivery
- Demonstrated understanding of software solution design
- Ability to lead release activities from analysis through implementation
- Comfortable working with clients via user forums, roundtables, or outreach
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Nice to have
- Experience with SaaS/order invoice-to-cash products or similar revenue/fintech domains
Compensation & work benefits
- Expected base salary range: $100,000–$115,000 annually (may vary by qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location)
- May include equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses
