About the role
Role Overview
Join Astronomer as a Cloud Solutions Architect and deliver technical solutions to customers and prospects. You’ll guide complex customers through their Apache Airflow journey and help design broader solutions that address customer pain points.
Key Missions
- Deliver world-class technical solutions to customer and prospect business problems, with a focus on Apache Airflow
- Implement Astronomer’s software and services within large enterprise environments
- Serve as the core interface between Customer, Sales, and Product to ensure the end-to-end solution creates customer value
Responsibilities
- Hands-on implementation of Astronomer platform components (often via CLI/terminal rather than GUI)
- Troubleshoot and set up distributed systems
- Read and reason about code while supporting deployments and integrations
- Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- Cloud-native data architecture experience
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider API/tooling
- Strong Kubernetes experience (e.g., GKE, EKS, AKS or OpenShift)
- Experience with distributed systems setup and troubleshooting
- Proficiency with git
- Strong command-line/terminal skills (hands-on work)
- Ability to read code and communicate effectively (oral and written)
- Prior experience with data/SaaS infrastructure operating at scale
- Understanding of network complexities and architectures
Nice to Have
- Prior experience using/ administering Apache Airflow and related tools (Autosys, UC4, Temporal, Dagster, Prefect)
- Experience with infra automation/scripting: Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible
- Enterprise data experience in regulated environments
- Experience with Python/Go
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Vault
Experience Level
- 5+ years in a data engineering role (or equivalent)
- 3+ years in a customer-facing role
