About the role

Role Overview

Cloud Security Engineer (GCP) – Risk Reduction for a 12-month contract supporting an enterprise-scale retail/digital commerce organization. The role is 100% remote (U.S.-based) and focuses on reducing cloud security risk through remediation, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute remediation plans for high-priority security findings across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
  • Update and maintain Terraform repositories and automation scripts to remediate issues consistently across many cloud projects.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and engineering teams to rotate and properly manage misconfigured or exposed secrets.
  • Identify and address root causes to prevent security issues from recurring.
  • Validate that remediation actions were successfully implemented (directly or via partner teams).
  • Navigate existing cloud architectures and repositories to understand risk context and anticipate impacts.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years writing automation pipelines and/or scripts for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • 3+ years writing production-grade Terraform in complex environments (e.g., 100+ GCP projects).
  • 5+ years overall cloud engineering experience with GCP.
  • Strong proficiency in cloud engineering and automation, including Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD.
  • Proficiency with on-prem and cloud networking, including SDN.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure components: compute, storage, databases, IAM, and networking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and remediate complex issues with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with large enterprise cloud architectures and code repositories.
  • Strong communication skills and collaboration in Agile teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Azure and/or AWS.
  • Familiarity with GitHub and/or Atlantis.
  • Prior cloud-security-focused experience combining infrastructure and security disciplines.

Contract & Compensation

  • Contract length: 12 months
  • Compensation: $67.00–$112.00 per hour
