About the role

Role Overview

Cloud Security Engineer (GCP) – Risk Reduction for a 12-month contract supporting an enterprise-scale retail/digital commerce organization. The role is 100% remote (U.S.-based) and focuses on reducing cloud security risk through remediation, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute remediation plans for high-priority security findings across GCP, Azure, and AWS.
Update and maintain Terraform repositories and automation scripts to remediate issues consistently across many cloud projects.
Coordinate with infrastructure and engineering teams to rotate and properly manage misconfigured or exposed secrets.
Identify and address root causes to prevent security issues from recurring.
Validate that remediation actions were successfully implemented (directly or via partner teams).
Navigate existing cloud architectures and repositories to understand risk context and anticipate impacts.

Required Qualifications

5+ years writing automation pipelines and/or scripts for Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
3+ years writing production-grade Terraform in complex environments (e.g., 100+ GCP projects).
5+ years overall cloud engineering experience with GCP.
Strong proficiency in cloud engineering and automation, including Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD.
Proficiency with on-prem and cloud networking, including SDN.
Strong understanding of infrastructure components: compute, storage, databases, IAM, and networking.
Ability to troubleshoot and remediate complex issues with minimal supervision.
Experience working with large enterprise cloud architectures and code repositories.
Strong communication skills and collaboration in Agile teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting Azure and/or AWS.
Familiarity with GitHub and/or Atlantis.
Prior cloud-security-focused experience combining infrastructure and security disciplines.

Contract & Compensation

Contract length: 12 months
Compensation: $67.00–$112.00 per hour
