About the role

Role Overview

Cloud Platform Engineer (hands-on platform ownership)

You will design, operate, and govern E3’s cloud infrastructure that powers large-scale modeling and analytics. As a member of a small technology team, you’ll act as the resident cloud expert with autonomy over architecture and provisioning.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve E3 cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure infrastructure is provisioned via Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automated workflows
  • Define and enforce tagging, security, and governance standards
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and/or AWS services
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and container orchestration issues
  • Implement and maintain integrations between internal systems, third-party applications, and external partners
  • Deploy and manage containerized applications using:
    • Docker
    • Kubernetes (EKS, ECS)
    • Helm
  • Integrate monitoring/logging tools such as Datadog and AWS CloudWatch
  • Partner with security and legal teams on data and access governance requirements
  • Optimize cloud cost and performance, including project-level cost attribution
  • Contribute to platform documentation, runbooks, and best practices

Requirements

  • Prior professional experience in cloud/platform/DevOps engineering
  • Demonstrated ownership of cloud architecture in production
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS services (e.g., IAM, EC2, S3, VPC, CloudWatch, quotas)
  • Deep experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform or OpenTofu)
  • Strong scripting/automation skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub/GitHub Actions

Work Environment & Logistics

  • Hybrid and flexible: encouraged office work at least 2–3 days/week, usually Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Occasional travel (up to 10%) to U.S./Canada offices
  • Office locations: Boston, Chicago, Denver, New York, San Francisco, or Calgary (AB); remote may be considered
