About the role

Role Overview

As a Cloud Platform Architect at Trader Interactive, you’ll design, implement, and continuously improve cloud infrastructure and platforms. The role is primarily remote (telecommute), with occasional reporting/presence at the Virginia Beach, VA HQ office.

Responsibilities

Architect and design cloud environments with a focus on AWS, including production, staging, QA, and development infrastructure in high availability setups.
Recommend adjustments and improvements to resolve software issues and improve functionality and performance.
Serve as a technical consultant to multiple departments.
Implement systems and processes for cloud security, cost management, monitoring, scalability, and redundancy, ensuring continuous validation.
Troubleshoot and debug software problems; investigate software-related complaints and optimize performance.
Collaborate across teams to brainstorm and propose solutions to technical issues.
Evaluate requirements and limitations (user, time, and system) when developing software.
Supervise/oversee technical aspects of projects as needed.
Maintain and upgrade existing software and infrastructure.
Provide training to other engineers.
Recommend new technologies to improve productivity.
Participate in on-call rotation (~1 week/month; average ~4 hours/week or less).

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related Engineering, or a related field.
9+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Demonstrated experience in:
- Cloud Architecture
- Security Engineering
- DevOps
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- End-to-end software development lifecycle
- Programming in C++ / Java / Scala
- Working with hardware, systems, and coding
- Troubleshooting, debugging large databases, and fixing complex software issues

Nice-to-haves / Other Notes

Communication skills required.
Occasional travel: limited national travel and possible international travel; up to 60 days/year, with max 5 days per trip.
May require background checks.
Physical requirement: must be able to lift 15 lbs.
