About the role

Role overview

Join MongoDB as a Cloud Operations Engineer (3rd Shift, Weekend) on a global 24/7/365 team responsible for the operational success of MongoDB Atlas (a multi-cloud database-as-a-service).

Key responsibilities

Monitor system performance, alerts, and critical events to ensure MongoDB Atlas client availability.
Troubleshoot issues and perform server administration tasks.
Collaborate with global Cloud Operations engineers to meet availability guarantees.
Help implement and refine new processes and tools to scale Cloud Operations engineering.

Requirements

Strong background in cloud operations with critical thinking to detect, resolve, or escalate broad/complex issues.
Experience with monitoring and performance data collection, analysis, and reporting.
At least one programming language: Java, Go, Python, or JavaScript.
Knowledge of database operations/concepts and a wide range of web/internet technologies.
Networking expertise (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP).
On-call experience as DevOps/SRE/Cloud Operations engineer (minimum 2 years).
Linux system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Ability to write small programs/scripts to solve short-term systems problems.
Degree in CS/CE or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves / additional skills

Familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure).
Experience with Kubernetes.
Experience with Splunk.
MongoDB familiarity/experience.
