About the role
Role Overview
Azure Cloud Engineer for a hybrid (Jersey City, New Jersey) / remote (United States) position. You will build and operate Azure infrastructure and support customer-facing hosted applications with strong focus on security, compliance, scalability, and resilience.
Responsibilities
- Configure and deploy Azure cloud services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation.
- Work with software developers to gather technical requirements and translate them into IaC deployments.
- Collaborate in a team environment: review and evaluate code, processes, and operations.
- Develop and maintain code in Azure DevOps/Git, using:
- Bicep, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM)
- PowerShell
- Apply DevOps, Agile/Scrum, and CI/CD practices.
- Implement cloud security and access controls using Users/Groups/Permissions integrated with Active Directory.
- Perform work during maintenance windows/off-hours and act as an escalation point for 24x7 systems.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, software, and connectivity.
- Administer and manage Databricks, Power BI, and Azure Data Factory.
- Develop and implement business continuity (BC) and disaster recovery (DR) plans for cloud services.
- Identify and implement opportunities to use Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Train and mentor engineers to help grow the team.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma/GED plus Bachelor’s degree (BS/B.Sc or BA) required.
- 3–5+ years hands-on experience with:
- Azure Cloud Services
- Azure DevOps
- Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates
- PowerShell
- Infrastructure as Code, Agile/Scrum, CI/CD
- Automation and Artificial Intelligence
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions, and a strong desire to learn.
Nice to Have
- Application security and cloud network architecture.
- Scripting for system administration (e.g., bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Knowledge of healthcare information systems and compliance/security requirements.
- Experience with standards/regulations: SOC 1/2, SOX, HIPAA, HITRUST, PCI DSS, ISO27001.
