About the role

Role Overview

As a Cloud Engineer on Bamboo Health’s Product Platform team, you will help design, deliver, and operate the foundational cloud systems that run Bamboo Health at scale. This role is well-suited for an early-career engineer eager to learn cloud technologies in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure components based on defined requirements and guidance from senior engineers.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): write and update infrastructure using Terraform or CloudFormation (CFN) to provision and manage resources reliably and repeatably.
  • Platform reliability: monitor platform health, investigate alerts, and participate in incident response and on-call rotations.
  • CI/CD support: contribute to development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment reliability and developer experience.
  • Documentation: maintain platform documentation, runbooks, and capture architecture decisions.
  • Engineering collaboration: participate in code and design reviews; provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Partner with product engineering teams to help them understand and use platform services effectively.
  • Continuous improvement: identify bugs, technical issues, and opportunities to improve workflows.
  • Automation/AI exploration: look for opportunities to enhance workflows through AI or automation tools (e.g., document summarization, task routing, data parsing).
  • Reduce repetitive work: identify recurring tasks and partner to implement scalable automation solutions.

What Success Looks Like

  • In 3 months:
    • Understand core cloud platform components and how they connect.
    • Ship at least one meaningful contribution (bug fix, infrastructure improvement, or documentation update).
    • Actively participate in meetings, code reviews, and pair programming.
    • Start using AI-supported tools in daily work (analysis, documentation, task management).
  • In 6 months:
    • Independently deliver well-scoped tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Build working knowledge of critical AWS services (EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, and related services).
    • Contribute to on-call and confidently triage/escalate incidents.
  • In 12 months:
    • Own one or more platform components end-to-end, including production monitoring.
    • Become a go-to contributor for the platform areas you’ve learned.
    • Work toward P2 readiness with a clear plan co-created with your manager.

Requirements

  • Mission-driven interest in using technology to improve healthcare outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree (posting ends with “Bachelor'”, implying a degree requirement).

Nice to Haves

  • Curiosity and collaboration; eagerness to learn, ask good questions, and grow into the role.
  • Interest in AI/automation to improve workflows.
