Cloud Data Engineer

Role Overview

Cloud Data Engineer (6-month contract to hire) supporting Medasource’s cloud data engineering initiatives. You will design, build, test, and deploy end-to-end data integration solutions on cloud infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and quality of data services.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive scope definition and requirements analysis for data integration work.
• Perform data/technical design and build reusable assets, standards, and frameworks to accelerate delivery.
• Build and deploy data pipelines end-to-end, including:
  • Ingestion processes for on-prem, API, 3rd-party, and user-generated data sources.
  • Data integration and transformation jobs using Python, SQL, and ETL/ELT tools.
  • Infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Workload, dependency, metadata, and data-structure management.
  • Parameter-driven orchestration for use cases like change data capture (CDC) and monitoring.
  • Scripts for maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Validate and verify data processes through data validation/testing; document results.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve data quality and operational issues.
• Ensure solutions meet technical and functional non-functional requirements and are delivered on committed timelines.
• Provide technical guidance/mentorship to junior engineers and maintain knowledge of industry trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience across at least two IT disciplines including database management, cloud engineering, data engineering, and middleware.
• 2+ years working with cloud platforms, including data integration, performance optimization, and platform administration.
• Strong experience designing/building solutions using data integration platforms/tools.
• Proven ability to build and optimize data pipelines and datasets.
• Advanced SQL skills and relational database query authoring.
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud ELT tools (e.g., Fivetran, HVR, dbt, Airflow).
• Must have DevOps tool chains and processes experience.
• Must have hands-on experience with Snowflake Data Cloud.
• Preferred: Python + SQL for scripting and data transformation.
• Preferred/Relevant: test automation focused on integration/API and data-flow testing.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

Contract Details

• Duration: 6-month contract to hire
• Work Model: 100% remote (working in CST)
• Compensation: $110k–$125k (annual, converted to CST)
