About the role
Role Overview
Senior member of the IT Infrastructure team responsible for leading the design, implementation, and ongoing management of Stone Coast’s cloud platforms. Serves as an experienced Azure Cloud Architect who translates business requirements into secure, scalable, cost-effective cloud architectures and ensures reliability, security, and compliance in a 24×7 environment.
Responsibilities
- Cloud architecture & operations: research, design, plan, implement, and manage Azure-based cloud systems; administer platforms and services.
- Reliability, security & compliance: ensure optimal availability and security; drive continuous optimization and improvement.
- Act as subject-matter expert, mentor, and Tier III escalation resource.
- Lead root-cause analysis and durable fixes; perform patching, maintenance, and proactive log/metric reviews.
- Collaborate with IT, Operations, and vendors to migrate, implement, optimize, and manage the cloud environment.
- Implement resource optimization and cost management strategies.
- Monitoring & automation: design/maintain monitoring, own alert response and escalation runbooks; automate recurring maintenance tasks.
- Follow and improve change-management protocols.
- Support compliance documentation and SSAE 18 control alignment; contribute to DR planning and maintain technical procedures/workflow diagrams.
- Project delivery: lead stakeholder discovery, document business requirements and solution features, scope initiatives, and communicate risks/costs/timelines.
- Vendor management: negotiate and document contracts (partial text provided).
Requirements
- Azure Cloud Architecture experience, including leadership of cloud platforms.
- Proficiency with Azure AD / Entra ID, RBAC, and Zero Trust concepts.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools: Terraform, Bicep, and/or ARM.
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability design.
- Familiarity with Azure Security Center/Defender and cloud monitoring tools.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and engage vendors/third parties when needed.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience supporting SSAE 18-aligned control objectives and documentation standards.
- Experience designing monitoring/alerting and operating escalation runbooks.
