About the role
Role Overview
Cloud Architect (Multi-Cloud) (100% Remote, U.S.) Design multi-cloud strategies and reference architectures for enterprises operating across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, and selectively OCI). The role emphasizes portability, abstraction, federated identity, cross-cloud networking, and platform capabilities that reduce cloud-specific complexity for product teams.
Responsibilities
- Define multi-cloud strategy, target-state architecture, and adoption guardrails across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.
- Design federated identity, SSO, and cross-cloud authorization patterns that preserve least-privilege, auditability, and operational simplicity during provider transitions.
- Architect cross-cloud networking (transit hubs, private connectivity) and zero-trust patterns.
- Establish reusable infrastructure-as-code patterns that abstract cloud-specific implementations where appropriate.
- Define container, Kubernetes, and serverless strategies that work consistently across providers.
- Create data architecture strategies for cross-cloud data movement, residency, and analytics.
- Lead multi-cloud observability, security monitoring, and unified policy enforcement with approaches that avoid fragmented per-cloud tooling.
- Establish FinOps practices operating consistently across multiple clouds.
- Lead disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies spanning clouds.
- Partner with security architects on multi-cloud security models, KMS, and key management strategies.
- Advise teams on when to use cloud-agnostic vs cloud-native patterns.
- Produce clear architecture artifacts (e.g., context diagrams, sequence diagrams, decision records, and reference designs).
- Engage with cloud providers and partners to align roadmaps with architecture direction.
- Stay current with multi-cloud platform/tooling updates and translate advances into adoption recommendations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related field).
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture roles.
- Hands-on architecture experience across at least two major cloud providers.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, identity, and security across providers.
- Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code across clouds.
- Experience designing federated identity and SSO across cloud platforms.
- Solid understanding of Kubernetes, container platforms, and managed cloud services.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Multiple cloud certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with abstraction platforms such as Crossplane or Pulumi.
