About the role

Role Overview

Cloud Architect providing technical leadership and oversight for enterprise cloud operations in a federal/mission-critical environment. Work involves cloud architecture alignment, governance, secure operations, and coordination with engineering, operations, and enterprise IT processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for enterprise cloud operations, ensuring environments are securely provisioned, configured, monitored, and lifecycle managed per agency policies.
  • Participate in Enterprise Architecture and Governance to align cloud architectures and implementations with enterprise standards across IT and OT.
  • Maintain and contribute to architecture artifacts, governance documentation, and configuration standards for compliant cloud operations.
  • Coordinate monitoring, incident response, and production support to ensure secure, resilient, highly reliable cloud service delivery.
  • Partner with engineering/operations teams to support testing for production deployments, ensuring readiness, stability, and compliance with change/release practices (without direct ownership).
  • Facilitate integration of cloud operations with enterprise change, configuration, and release management processes for lifecycle coordination.
  • Ensure cloud platforms/services are included in disaster recovery planning, testing, and continuity of operations across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Oversee cloud cost and consumption management with visibility, reporting, and optimization recommendations.
  • Support ITSM and ITOM objectives by aligning cloud operations with service delivery frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track and report service performance against SLAs to drive continuous service improvement.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust; Active Public Trust and/or DHS Suitability preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship or U.S. national status required.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and supporting cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in an enterprise/federal setting.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Hands-on cloud operations experience: provisioning, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience supporting incident response, system monitoring, and 24/7 production operations.
  • Experience coordinating change management, configuration management, and release processes.
  • Working knowledge of cloud security/compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP).
