Role: Cloud Architect (Contract)

66degrees is seeking a Cloud Architect to support strategic client engagements, focusing on reliable and secure Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted advisory relationships with strategic accounts and engage with management.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in the Google Cloud ecosystem; explain complex concepts clearly.
• Understand customer priorities and objections; design strategies across the Google ecosystem to resolve blockers and drive growth.
• Lead requirements gathering and project scoping.
• Perform solution design, problem-solving, and architecture diagramming.
• Provide public-cloud and enterprise technology domain expertise; promote Google Cloud via conferences and online.
• Advise the team on CI/CD, infrastructure, monitoring/alerting, and security.
• Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure.
• Support delivery of technical solutions, improving service reliability (CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure builds/migrations).
• Provide engineer-to-engineer and architect-to-engineer support (e.g., whiteboard sessions and Q&A).
• Travel to customer sites, conferences, and related events as required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of GCP experience (required).
• Proven experience architecting/designing/implementing globally distributed cloud systems.
• Strong understanding of API-first design and API management platforms (e.g., Apigee).
• Extensive experience with cloud security (including zero trust) and networking.
• Experience advising and implementing CI/CD using tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy, and concepts like GitOps and GitFlow.
• Experience containerizing workloads using Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and Artifact Registry.
• Ability to learn emerging cloud/IT technologies and methodologies.
• Cross-functional collaboration; strong customer-facing communication and organization.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in other clouds (in addition to GCP).

Contract & Location

• Remote contract role for approximately 2 months.
• Travel to customer sites/events as needed.
