About the role

Role Overview

Hands-on Cloud Architect (AWS) to support cloud platform modernization and migration in a highly technical, cloud-focused environment. You will evaluate current systems, modernize architecture, improve performance and resiliency, and drive cost optimization.

Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to cloud migration and modernization initiatives
Design and implement scalable, resilient, cost-effective cloud architectures
Review existing systems to identify modernization and efficiency opportunities
Provide actionable architecture recommendations based on best practices
Partner with engineering and platform teams to improve processes, tooling, and performance
Serve as a technical advisor and thought leader across cloud initiatives

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in architecture-focused technical roles
Strong AWS experience, including:
- EC2, Lambda, ECS
- VPCs
- ALB/NLB, API Gateway, Transit Gateway
Hands-on experience with:
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation, Packer
- Containers: Docker
- Configuration management: Ansible, Chef
Strong programming background: Python and JavaScript required
Additional languages a plus: Java, Go, C++, etc.
Experience with Linux systems (Ubuntu, RHEL)
Familiarity with monitoring/observability: CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk

Nice to Have

CDN, DNS, WAF tools (e.g., Cloudflare, Akamai)
Database experience: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DocumentDB
CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven, Ant)
Experience in Agile development environments

Work Model

100% Remote (open to U.S. time zones)
Monday–Friday with flexible core hours 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Contract duration: 6 months (extension possible)
