About the role
Role Overview
The Chief of Staff is the CEO’s trusted thought partner and execution lead. You will help turn the company’s highest-priority objectives into coordinated action across teams, while supporting high-stakes external engagements with investors, government stakeholders, and strategic partners.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Partnership
- Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CEO with research, analysis, and judgment for critical decisions.
- Prepare concise briefing materials and recommendations to ensure the CEO is ready for meetings, negotiations, Board discussions, and external engagements.
- Drive follow-through on executive priorities to convert decisions and initiatives into measurable execution.
External Engagement Support
- Support relationships and engagements with investors, federal agencies, national laboratories, strategic partners, and other senior stakeholders.
- Create executive briefing materials, presentations, talking points, and supporting analyses for high-stakes meetings.
- Represent the Office of the CEO with professionalism and discretion when appropriate.
Cross-Functional Execution
- Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across engineering, finance, regulatory affairs, government affairs, facilities, and corporate operations.
- Translate executive priorities into aligned action plans with accountability and progress tracking.
- Identify organizational bottlenecks and improve operating rhythms and decision-making processes.
Capital Formation
- Coordinate private fundraising follow-up and maintain momentum between financing rounds.
- Prepare investor-facing materials, executive presentations, and company narratives for external audiences.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in a Chief of Staff, strategy, external affairs, or similarly high-execution role (externally-facing).
- Experience supporting executive engagement with investors and/or government agencies and/or strategic partners.
- Strong confidence and communication skills with senior executives and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional executive communication, including executive correspondence and board/investor-facing materials.
- Ability to operate across technical, regulatory, and financial domains.
- High autonomy and effectiveness in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to handle export-controlled and classified information and maintain eligibility for a DOE Q security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience at a high-growth startup, ideally in a capital-intensive or regulated industry.
- Prior experience supporting (externally-facing) executive stakeholders in similar contexts.
