Chief of Staff

Role Overview

Chief of Staff (hands-on operator) working directly with the CEO at a seed-stage AI company. Own high-priority initiatives across strategy, business operations, partnerships, go-to-market, and finance. The role is not an executive assistant or purely advisory position; it requires direct ownership from definition through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic and operational initiatives end-to-end
• Run commercial pilots, partnerships, and go-to-market projects
• Establish priorities, KPIs, and company operating rhythms
• Build analysis and financial models to support major decisions
• Prepare board materials and support overall company strategy

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience (with fit in one of the following backgrounds):
  • 2–4 years management consulting, then 2+ years in an operating role at a high-growth tech company or startup, or
  • 5+ years in startup strategy, Business Operations, general management, product operations, or a founding-team role
• Personally own ambiguous projects from definition through execution
• Deliver clear, measurable commercial or operational results
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving
• Experience operating with limited resources and minimal direction
• Ability to work full-time from the San Mateo office (five days a week)

Nice-to-haves (Not required)

• Insurance experience, an MBA, or prior Chief of Staff experience
