About the role

Role Overview

The Director, Chief of Staff (People) will directly support Affirm’s Chief People Officer (CPO) as a trusted advisor and strategic operator for the People organization. The role blends strategy with hands-on execution to help operationalize the People agenda, run organizational cadences, and drive critical initiatives across a complex, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Trusted advisor to the CPO: Pressure-test priorities, evaluate tradeoffs, anticipate challenges, and support high-quality decision-making.
  • Strategic narrative & communication: Shape and communicate the People organization’s strategy, priorities, progress, and impact with strong business context.
  • Execution against People priorities: Partner with the People Leadership Team (PLT) and initiative owners to define, communicate, and advance key initiatives.
  • Operating rhythm: Run People team cadences, including leadership meetings, offsites, annual planning, and business reviews.
  • Executive-ready materials: Create presentations, narratives, leadership updates, and decision support for CPO and senior leaders.
  • Connective tissue across People leadership: Improve information flow, surface risks/dependencies, identify decision bottlenecks, and ensure shared context and aligned priorities.
  • Confidential special projects: Own high-priority, ambiguous, or time-sensitive projects from problem definition through execution.
  • Cross-functional representation: Represent the CPO’s voice and priorities in cross-functional forums; escalate or drive work forward with sound judgment.

Requirements
