About the role

Role Overview

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Certa.ai, reporting to the CEO and partnering with the leadership team and board. You will own Certa’s financial strategy and build the finance function to scale from Series B toward Series C and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Financial strategy & long-range planning: Set and drive financial strategy, long-range plan, and capital allocation aligned to company goals.
  • Fundraising & investor relations: Lead future financing rounds (Series C and beyond), manage investor/board relationships, and prepare board materials, models, and narratives.
  • FP&A & SaaS metrics: Own budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning; instrument key SaaS metrics to guide decisions and protect efficient growth (e.g., ARR, net revenue retention, CAC payback, magic number, burn, runway).
  • Accounting, controls & compliance: Own accounting operations including revenue recognition (ASC 606), tax, treasury, audit, and internal controls across a global, multi-entity organization.
  • Build and scale the finance team: Hire, mentor, and grow finance/accounting; implement systems and processes for durable growth and eventual IPO readiness.
  • Cross-functional partnership: Work with GTM, Product, and People on pricing, unit economics, headcount planning, and operational rigor; lead strategic initiatives such as M&A or new market entry.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive finance leadership, including prior CFO or VP Finance experience in a high-growth B2B SaaS or enterprise software company.
  • Demonstrated track record raising institutional capital (Series C or later) and managing investor/board relationships, ideally with exposure to an IPO or exit path.
  • Deep expertise in SaaS metrics, unit economics, and revenue recognition (ASC 606).
  • Experience scaling finance operations and systems through rapid growth, including multi-entity, multi-currency global operations and strong internal controls.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, able to distill complex financial concepts for board/investors and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related; CPA, MBA, or CFA is a strong plus.
