About the role
Role Overview
Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst (Power BI) for the Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team. You will develop and maintain a Power BI reporting environment, turning data into clear, meaningful dashboards and reports for business leaders, including highly visible executive and regulatory reporting.
Responsibilities
- Report Development (50%)
- Build effective, efficient Power BI reports and dashboards using best practices in design and data presentation
- Migrate reporting inventory to a centralized semantic model
- Automate/streamline manual reporting processes
- Regulatory Reporting (20%)
- Monitor exceptions and resolve data discrepancies with business partners
- Collect and curate data points from partners
- Execute regulatory data preparation and document validation against the system of record
- Semantic Model Maintenance (10%)
- Update semantic models to support new reporting needs
- Monitor and improve model efficiency/performance
- Report Maintenance (10%)
- Make minor updates and improvements to existing reports
- Documentation (5%)
- Document report development processes for business contingency needs
- Maintain semantic model documentation (sources, relationships)
- Maintain an index of active reports (lineage, purpose, audience) and a reporting changelog
- Team Support (5%)
- Provide backfill support for other team needs
Requirements
- 3+ years in a data or business intelligence role
- 3+ years creating BI dashboards/reports with data visualization and storytelling using Power BI
- 3+ years writing SQL queries for data mining
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Power BI / SQL Skills
- Intermediate Power BI proficiency
- Navigate semantic models
- Create dynamic measures using DAX
- Use Power Query for data sourcing/transformation
- Implement row-level security, calculation groups
- Apply effective data visualization principles
- Intermediate SQL (T-SQL)
- SELECT queries, joins across multi-key datasets
- Data normalization and window functions
Nice to Have
- Mortgage experience preferred
Work Arrangement
- Fully remote with optional office work in San Diego, CA; Irvine, CA; or Omaha, NE.
