Business Data Analyst (Contract, Remote - US)

Role overview

Responsible for gathering and analyzing business and technical requirements, improving operational processes, and producing data-driven reporting and dashboards. You will also ensure data quality through validation, troubleshooting, and governance support across business and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Requirements management: Gather, document, and analyze business, functional, and technical requirements.
• Process improvement: Review operational procedures, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements.
• Stakeholder communication: Align IT, management, and end users to support successful delivery.
• Data analysis & reporting:
  • Analyze large datasets using SQL, Power BI, Excel, and Kusto
  • Build dashboards, reports, pivots, and visualizations
  • Perform data validation and quality assurance on large datasets
  • Create automated data validation processes to detect and resolve data integrity issues
  • Produce detailed reports, user stories, and flowcharts for proposed solutions
• Collaboration & governance:
  • Work with Engineering and Operations teams to document business processes
  • Coordinate with business users and data warehouse teams to solve business problems
  • Organize and lead meetings with business/operational data owners
  • Support establishment of data management and governance processes
• Data quality & troubleshooting:
  • Cleanse and verify data integrity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues
  • Understand database structures and business processes (independently and collaboratively)

Requirements (Must have)

• Domain experience in Finance, Strategy, Business Planning, Product Management, Marketing, Consulting, or Operations
• SQL queries
• Power BI
• Agile and SDLC experience

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using Kusto
