Role Overview
Brand Design Manager (People Empowerers / PEs)
Gusto’s brand design team brings the company identity to life through visual craft, consistency, and clarity. This leadership role manages a small team of brand and motion designers, sets creative direction, and ensures brand quality across multi-channel brand work.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of brand and motion designers (feedback, expectations, career growth)
- Set creative direction and maintain visual quality across:
- campaigns, paid media, email, web, social, experiential, and product marketing
- Build and maintain scalable design systems, templates, and brand guidelines
- Partner cross-functionally with marketing leadership, product marketing, comms, and creative leadership to:
- prioritize high-impact work
- translate strategy into visual execution
- Define and improve team workflows and processes to increase speed without sacrificing quality or brand integrity
Requirements
- Leadership experience managing and mentoring designers (leadership role; managing people rather than only producing work)
- Strong brand craft and a focus on visual quality, consistency, and clarity
- Ability to partner across marketing and other creative/product stakeholders
Nice-to-Haves / Context
- Experience working in an AI-native design organization, using AI to prototype faster and shorten customer feedback loops
- Experience scaling design systems and workflows to support repeatable, high-quality creative output
