About the role
Role Overview
Senior Biomedical Clinical Engineer to support VHA medical centers and biomedical engineering departments. This position is contingent upon award (March 2026) and requires deep understanding of VISN structure, VA medical center operations, and biomedical equipment program management in complex healthcare environments.
Responsibilities
- Support computer-based medical systems, including networking protocols and information security as applied to medical technology
- Run a medical equipment management program compliant with applicable healthcare standards and regulatory agencies
- Manage recalls and safety alert programs for medical devices, including hazard investigations, to ensure compliance with patient safety goals, SMDA, and TJC requirements
- Apply and interpret requirements from regulatory agencies, industry standards, and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
- Clinical Engineer Certification (CCE)
- 20+ years of hospital/healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment and managing a hospital medical equipment program
- 20+ years experience working with and communicating collaboratively with key healthcare stakeholders at multiple organizational levels
- 10+ years expertise in incident investigations involving medical equipment and providing related national healthcare system guidance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a VA medical center and Biomedical Engineering department
- Experience working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
- Familiarity with VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering operations
Compensation & Benefits
- $120,000–$140,000 per year
