Role Overview

Build and scale integration-heavy backend services that process large volumes of transactions and data. You’ll work in a high-ownership engineering culture, partnering with Product, Engineering, and Operations to deliver reliable, scalable systems for mission-critical workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and NestJS
• Architect and implement scalable APIs, integrations, and event-driven systems
• Build and optimize high-throughput workflows processing large transaction/data volumes
• Design data models, service architectures, and integration patterns for distributed systems
• Develop asynchronous processing systems (queues, workers, background jobs)
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions with cross-functional partners
• Improve reliability, performance, and operational efficiency
• Implement observability (logging, monitoring, metrics, tracing, alerting)
• Contribute to API design, documentation, developer experience, and internal tooling
• Participate in architectural discussions and influence long-term platform strategy
• Take ownership from design through deployment and ongoing optimization
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and production experience with NestJS (or similar Node.js frameworks)
• Proven ability to design and build scalable backend services and APIs
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs, webhooks, and external platforms
• Strong system design skills for scale and complexity
• Experience with observability, production troubleshooting, monitoring systems
• Knowledge of software engineering best practices, testing, and maintainability
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in remote environments

Nice to Have

• Queue/background job tools such as BullMQ (or similar)
• Familiarity with Next.js or modern frontend frameworks
• Experience with high-volume, transactional, or integration-heavy systems
• Exposure to cloud and DevOps best practices
• Startup/high-growth environment experience
• Knowledge of microservices and platform engineering concepts
• Experience using AI-powered development tools in your workflow
