Backend Software Engineer (Contract) — Remote
Crossing Hurdles is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to build and improve software components used in AI model training and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize robust backend software components for AI training/evaluation workflows
- Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to deliver scalable, maintainable, high-quality code
- Translate requirements into technical solutions aligned to project objectives
- Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to uphold best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across the software development lifecycle
- Document codebases, processes, and methodologies for transparency and ongoing team success
Requirements
- Proven software development expertise; proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or similar
- Solid experience building software for AI / Machine Learning / data-driven applications
- Ability to work effectively in remote, distributed teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Contract Details
- Compensation: $50–$120/hour
- Commitment: 10–40 hrs/week
- Location: Remote (United States)
