Backend Software Engineer

Role Overview

Backend Software Engineer at Payslip to help develop Payslip Connect, the company’s integration services platform. You will design and deliver robust integration services in collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and QA, including working with international clients.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of Payslip Connect by designing and delivering robust integration services
• Collaborate cross-functionally (Product Managers, Engineers, QA) to design, extend, and improve the Payslip Connect ecosystem
• Write automated Python unit tests for developed functionality and support the overall test strategy with QA

Requirements

• Strong backend development understanding, including error handling, monitoring, and performance in distributed and serverless systems
• Python experience and ability to write automated unit tests
• 3+ years of professional backend experience with strong Python proficiency
• Experience with integration/data processing libraries and workflows (e.g., pandas, Excel parsing/generation, integration-related libraries)
• Experience building data integration and transformation pipelines
  • Connecting to external systems and RESTful APIs
  • Handling heterogeneous data sources and mapping into an internal model
• Version control and collaboration with Git (feature branches, pull requests, code reviews; familiarity with workflows like gitflow)
• Familiarity with Agile methods, particularly Scrum, and working in cross-functional product teams
• Hands-on AWS experience, including AWS Lambda, S3, and monitoring/logging via Amazon CloudWatch
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (notably AWS SAM Templates or Terraform)
